As we know that bathroom exhaust fans is necessary for our circulation of air in bathroom. This kind of ventilation fan should be appropriate to the size of the bathroom. The larger size of your bathroom it need bigger energy of air flow in our exhaust fan. The parameter is called CFM which is stand for cubic feet per minute (cubic feet/min).
There are three method to calculate the number of CFM we need in our room. The first is by the manual calculating by sizing the height, width and length of the room. After you got the number of your room which is in cubic, it should be divided by 60. The number 60 is from the minutes in an hour. After that the result should be multiplied by the number of height/ceiling of your room. Then you get the size of an air flow. For example, your bathroom have 15 long X 10 wide X 6 ceiling = 900 cubic feet. Then, the result is (900/60) x 6 (ceiling) = 90 CFM.
The second is by using the guidelines of HVI (Home Ventilating Institute) which is stated about the under 100 square feet for bathroom. The under 100 square feet need minimum of 50 CFM. Therefore, if you have the bigger size, you need to install a bathroom exhaust fan over the 50 CFM.
The last method is using the calculation the number of fixture in the bathroom such as toilets, showers, tubs, etc.. the rule are you need to install 50 CFM each standard toilets, shower or tub, and each whirlpool and jetted tubs need 100 CFM. Therefore, if you have a bathroom consist of one toilet, shower and whirlpool; you need to install 200 CFM. The Fantech and Panasonic Bathroom Exhaust Fan are the two brands that work well in this kind of bathroom.
Usually, the brand provided the simulation of air flow needs in the internet. Then, you will get the appropriate size of CFM. IN this site you will get the latest information about exhaust fan which is important in circulating the air in our room like bathroom and kitchen.
